Decision on Rosebank delayed

We can confirm that Equinor is being asked to provide further information on Rosebank. This means that a decision on Rosebank has been delayed! As a result, any final decision on Rosebank is unlikely to come any time soon!

This is a moment to celebrate. This gives us more time to keep getting organised and push back and to #StopRosebank once and for all.

Here is some more information on what has happened. OPRED (the environmental regulator for new oil and gas developments) has written to Equinor raising concerns and questions about a number of claims Equinor has made about the environmental and climate impact of the Rosebank oil field. This includes the consistency of the project with the government and industry's own net zero targets, including the North Sea Transition Deal, and the oil spill risks for sea birds, fish and sea bed habitats. Some more good news: OPRED's questions to Equinor reflect a number of the specific concerns raised in the submission provided to the regulator by the Stop Cambo network. We're going to push the regulator to open up Equinor's response to further public comment, given how important the questions they've raised are.

Let's all take a breath out. We now know that Rosebank will not imminently be approved. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the campaign. This is a moment to celebrate, get some rest and get ready to keep fighting back.
